GISTER TECHNIQUE
The Gister method is firmly rooted in Stanislavski in that it calls for actors to break down a scene and identify what their character is actively doing to in the scene (as opposed to simply playing an emotion). Gister’s major innovation was crafting his own version of what Stanislavski called tactics. Gister taught that, instead of tactics, actors should play what he called actions. In Gister’s method, actions are designed to make the other character feel a certain way. In other words, Stanislavski would ask “what are you trying to do to the other character?” and Gister would ask “how are you trying to make the other character feel?”

Frequently Asked questions
I am new to the “TIAS”. Where do i start and how do i catch up with other actors who were here from the beginning of the year?
We tell our actors to let go of the pressure of having to catch up to someone. You are here at the right time, and our team will provide you with all the informations that you might need.
The first thing we tell our newcomers is to read the 12 Steps/Chapters in the “Power Of The Actor” Pdf book. After Reading each chapter, focus on applying it to your current scene work that you were assigned. The next step would be to watch the first 3 classes with Adam. After this you are ready to fully apply Chubbuck Technique into your scene work!
As for the Voice Classes, they require each student to watch the previous voice class recordings, to join the new ones.
When can i present my scene during the class?
Once you (and your scene partner, if you were assigned a dialogue scene) have applyed Chubbuck technique(Steps) and memorized your lines, you can contact the class monitor and have him sign you up for scene presentation. You can find your class monitor by sending a text in the Whatsapp group that you are a part of. He/She will place you on scene list, and on the next class Adam will review your scene!
Are there any rules at TIAS ?
Always bring a notebook! Chubbuck technique requires every actor to carry their personal notebook with them. Don’t use ripped papers.
Phones in class are prohibited!
We have a strict no gossip policy. Our actors share their personal stuff with us, in order to fully immerse themselves into their assigned characters.
If you don’t respect these rules, you will be given 1 strike and after that if you repeat the mistake, we will have to say goobye to you.
